i'd like to go back to tuesday where there was snow - there wasn't a negative 11 degree windchill on tuesday.  wait, no, tuesday wasn't so great!  i cut my hand that day, not a deep wound just an inconveniently placed cut right down the middle of my palm so i couldn't open my hand or use my thumb without reopening it.  work was rather difficult since it didn't seem wise to bleed on the books...   and then wednesday, ugh, wednesday i started sneezing & spontaneously got sick.  i went home, slept a great deal & luckily felt okay in time for my date.  i accomplished my first vegan baking last night - gingerbread cupcakes.  they remind me of those ginger muffins at seven stars bakery, very strong & very delicious.  they came out excellent, even sans frosting, but definitely did not need the crystallized ginger.  (i didn't put very much in & next time i'll leave it out completely)   i guess i'm rather picky about my recipes, i'm so not interested in boring baking, but this cupcake cookbook is calling me!

oh, also, finally got word back on how much it would cost to fix my digital camera and i'm sorry, mom, but it's not worth it.  when i pick it up i'll ask them what's wrong because doesn't $225 seems crazy?  i'll start camera-shopping this weekend, but it looks like polaroids only for a little while longer...

everyone else is really boring, anyone else wouldn't be good enough

two more little izone photos for you: the top one is my kitchen light & vintage spice rack, the bottom one is my taylor smith taylor coffee pot again.  i took the latter one with film that had been sitting in the camera for at least a few years - i wonder where that stripe came from?

this journal has had so many incarnations; it's gone from sewing creatures to quilts to vinyl to knitting, back to quilts again, then there's all the bookbinding & boxmaking, now i'm onto photos & who knows where next...  i've been posting here for over 2 years now!  2 years?  wow.  i know from my stats page that there are quite a few of you out there reading & whenever i notice a link to me i add you to my del.icio.us page.  who else is out there?  i'd really love it if you took a moment to delurk/introduce yourself... where did you come from?  why do you like to read this & is there something you'd like to see more of?  do you have a blog, too?  and do you have any questions for me?

thanks!

while my camera is waiting for some tech-guy to estimate repair costs, i have regressed to taking polaroids.  they're simple & instantly gratifying like my digital, but you have to wait for me to get around to scanning them in!  i'm in love with how they look.  these two were taken with my izone camera - remember what a terrible marketing idea that was?  i'm sure i'll have a hard time finding more film for the silly little thing, but it's great fun while it lasts.

i bought a few packs of polaroid 600 film, too.  of course i haven't taken photos of anything remotely craft-related.  er, first i would have to be doing something remotely craft-related in order to take photos of it...

who is this Nancy Pelosi? why is everybody so afraid of Nancy Pelosi?

i thought, hey, why not use one of my other cameras while the digital one is still broken?  but sadly, it has been many years since i used my polaroid camera & i'm obviously out of practice...

although i live in New England, today was the first day i wore my winter coat & winter hat!  (remember when it used to snow?)  my winter coat is oh-so-warm, it's a very old pinkish wool coat with a new lining sewn by my mother using vintage fabric given to me by our friend Mary.  and the hat: that's the beloved pink hat that i briefly lost last year, but i made signs & it was returned to me!  i love that my sister bought it for herself, decided she looked silly in it, gave it to me & i decided it's the best. hat. ever.

i also attempted to photograph the mess of my studio workbench & the last quilt i made in 2006.  it's a rich deep green framed with a bright lemon yellow & has sashiko tentacles quitled on it.  i bet if i'd hung it in the Foundry Sale it would have sold, but i wasn't ready to let go of it...

(subject line curdisy of random crazy guy yelling on a street corner, after passing him i turned abby & said, "now i feel like i'm in DC!")
