thirty years from now someone will spill juice

what am i doing?  i'm making creepy, but cute things...  i stayed home from work today because i hurt my leg helping neighbor susan move from a 1/2 basement apt to the 2nd floor.  it's just a pulled muscle, but it's cold & rainy outside, it would have taken me forever to hobble to work!  creature making is probably not what i should be doing, but i'm really excited about the strange creatures i've making.

a funny thing happened earlier: i was looking for my spool of pink thread, you know, the one i've been using all day?  it suddenly disappeared & i searched everywhere for it.  is in on my table? maybe it's under a piece of fabric or rolled off to the side.  oh, maybe it rolled onto the floor or into the trash!  can you find it? it's here somewhere...

teresa & i recently made a trip to Ryco Trim's factory outlet in Lincoln, RI so i could get ribbon for another little sewing project i haven't shown you.  the ribbon above makes me weak in the knees!  and that brown one below?  gorgeous!  i generally turn my nose up at grosgrain (gross) ribbon, but it seemed appropriate for what i'm making.  here's a hint: it has handles...  okay, so it's little purse bag things & they're wicked cute!  you'll see soon, i promise.

i hate to admit it, but i'm disappointed i didn't get to do anything for valentine's day this year!  normally i won't acknowledge the fake holiday, but for some silly reason i got ideas in my head.  i had plans for cupcake baking, card making & whatnot - instead i spent the evening in bed with a migraine.  i haven't even gotten to do any celebrating about my job extension!  something needs to be done about that, maybe i'll take myself out to a sushi dinner?  no, i don't have the nerve to go out to dinner alone, perhaps i should cook myself something...

some!

i had an amazing time up in maine for new years. my friend Art, drove us up to visit his friends Marsha & Mike. they built a little cabin in the woods & live there with their giant cat. they were so nice to me even though we'd never met before, fed us lobsters, provided coffee, took us out & let us sleep in. every time i visit maine i want to live there, at least a few months of the year! i definitely have to learn how to drive first... i have so many pictures i want to post, but for now here are some of the new fabrics i got in my travels to the south & the north:

Mydesk

this was my desk at work yesterday.  i thought it would be fun to show a little of the other side of my life, my day job.  it's actually a really good job, it's just not what i want to be doing so sometimes it gets me down.  i worked on my special orders during the west wing & project runway last night.  i wish they showed more of the sewing & the actual dresses on that show.  i'm sure most people aren't watching for apparel talent so they emphasize the drama instead.  here's a sneak peek at what i picked out for the three special creatures:

Isaac Jessica Raven

the one in the middle was the hardest to decide because the girl it is for sounds like me in high school!  i finally decided to use the fabric i wanted the most, the one that really made me gasp when i found it.  that's what i went for in all of them, not the most obvious pattern, but the one that was striking.
